slip sliding away...we be pajammin

pajammin.jpg

Alternate title: how to waste 7 million dollars of investor's money.

Steve H. mentioned that Pajamas Media didn't have their doubleclick ads on Michelle Malkin's site yesterday. Malkin is one of maybe 5 valuable writers attached to the mess. MM gets great traffic. MM has no ads. Where are they MAKING money?

I know where they are spending it. Salaries for 70 bloggers. EIGHT staffers, Roger's fedora/mortgage/accidental CEO fund. And get this -- ads on DRUDGE.

Yes, that's correct.

This morning I saw that Raj and Rerun have placed ads on Drudge. Ads on Drudge don't come cheap, my friends. Did they get a discount for idiotic conservatives? I doubt it. Matt Drudge HATES blogs.

My friend Andrew Breitbart (Drudge's right hand man) was the only one I heard good things about from the Pajamas Media mis-launch -- and as nice as he is -- I highly doubt that Breitbart worked a deal for them. If he did talk Matt into this, I hope Matt is awash in shame.

At this point if I were Aubrey Chernick, I'd be soiling my pants for giving these egomaniacs 7 million dollars, or some fraction thereof. If I gave Roger and crew even a dollar, I'd feel like I wasted a buck that could have been better invested in a gumball machine.

My five year old cousin could run this so-called company better than Roger L. Simon. The lights are on but no one is home over in PajamaLand. Anyone want to photoshop a map of that?

If those clowns did even one thing right, I think the entire earth would stop dead in its orbit.

Anyone care to guess how much an ad on Drudge goes for? I know. Guesses are also being accepted for how many investors lament the day they heard the name Pajamas Media/Open Sores Media/OSM?

This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

WELCOME lefties...if nothing else Raj and Pajamas Media have done what politicians could not -- brought the right and the left together on an issue. I am in awe of how many Atrios readers are visiting. It makes an Instalanche look like a piss party on a midget farm. Whatever that means.

I went to Drudge to see the ad, but I couldn't. Musta been a Doubleclick ad.

Let's face it: lefty or righty, it's fun to give a big raspberry to the pajamahacks. Here's to schadenfrude.

Posted by: weinerdog43 at December 15, 2005 10:31 AM

I'll have to agree and raise my glass...

To schadenfreude!

"Let's face it: lefty or righty, ..."

they'd never be a Ramone.

GABBA GABBA HEY!

I'm quoting that the next time someone on your side of the aisle claims Atrios is overrated. :)

Think of it as the Christmas Truce of 1914, where bloggers climbed out of their trenches to kick around the football that is Panjamdramedja.

Posted by: ahem at December 15, 2005 12:00 PM

Ahem:

Okay, but since we're liberals, we're going to have to insist that you call it a "holiday truce."

Posted by: Auguste at December 15, 2005 12:18 PM

"Piss party at a midget farm." Hah!

I like your style, Moxie. And while it's true that lots of liberals are sanctimonious pig-heads infatuated with their own sense of enlightenment, liberalism itself has a lot going for it. Check out Joe Conason's "Big Lies" sometime.

I'll try to keep an eye on your future work. Perhaps you can be saved yet.

"...Andrew Breitbart (Drudge's right hand man)..." I think we all know what that hand does.

Greetings from the Eschalanche! Makes the Instalanche seem like a snowball fight.

I love the smell of schadenfreude in the morning. Smells like...victory.

Here's what puzzles me about the whole PJM mess: where were this guys and their investors 6 years ago? Didn't the collapse of the tech bubble show people that you can't just post some scattered content, sell some ads and expect to make money? And as for their new paradigm talk, well DailyKos is already a huge and growing amalgam of commentary and activism and Talking Points Memo is already doing original reporting and interviews. They're just smart enough not to think they can get rich doing it.

Congrats on the Atrios hit!

Man, I live for approval from one of the vilest leftists on the net!

Im gonna have to agree with you on all the OSM, or whatever the hell they're calling it now. I liked most of those blogs individually, but I have no idea what they are trying to do with this hunk of crap. It's almost like they've become what they claimed to have despised. Plus, that site is just plain boring. You can get all the same stuff at any news site, fox, cnn, drudge or whatever. To me it's a bunch of bigshots patting each other on the back, and it's a shame because I especially love LGF and hoped this little venture would actually succeed.

Posted by: moonbat monitor at December 15, 2005 4:07 PM

Jeff, all the Atrios readers have been pretty damn civil over here -- except the comment about AB -- but the set up of "right hand man" is truly tough to resist.

As you know, I'm not saying bad things about YOU, you are one of those 5 I mentioned.

How about we ALL have a "holiday" truce?! I'll try not to post any Pajama bashing and you can keep on pajammin'. Deal?

Posted by: Moxie at December 15, 2005 6:11 PM

Since it makes so little sense that anyone would invest in OSM/PJM, the possiblity that OSM/PJM is an "astroblog" (astroturfing a blog), designed to funnel sustaining cash to the 70 rightwing blog-members needs serious consideration. When we first suggested "astroblogging" on LGFWatch we were half-kidding. Not anymore. The evidence is in just how little effort is being made by the "team" at OSM. They are not even trying.

Posted by: Steve Kelso from LGFWatch at December 15, 2005 6:18 PM

It's so fun to watch the whole PJM debacle. I have stated my problem with the whole thing, comparative to punk rock music going mainstream. Blogging is supposed to be about communication, an alternative to the media. Ha!

I'm glad I found your blog, I'm really enjoying it. Oh, and I got an Atrios link once, matter of fact it was over me removing a link to the instapundit...and you know what? It did put the instalanche I got the day before to shame.

My mom tells me I'm a valuable writer. (sniff)

Posted by: Laurence Simon at December 15, 2005 6:38 PM

Laurence, I said there are 5 valuable writers....and I didn't name them. Come on, where is your Gutfeld spirit?

Posted by: Moxie at December 15, 2005 6:44 PM

open sores media, that was priceless.

who knew the right was this funny?

so, umm, whattya think about the president?

OT, but Merry Christmas -- Merry Christmas to everyone.

In a world where a married blogger who owns a home can bleg online for almost $10K for a broken tooth or two (and get it!), while a single mom with a broken car, minimal income, and a near-broken back gets no help, no attention, I'm not surprised in the least about how PJM is spending their money.

Check out a funny site dedicated to the absurdity and satire nature of saying “It’s All George Bush’s Fault!"

I hope that you don't think this is spam. I really do think that you'd appreciate a site like this since we share the same idealogy. Hopefully you like it enough to blogroll :)
