Carnival of the Bloated Egos #1
As promised, I stopped a random neighbor this morning and asked her, "I'm sorry to bother you as you are picking up the enormous turd your horse-sized dog has left on my lawn....but do you know who Roger L. Simon is?"
It actually pains me to share her answer with you all, for free...I could have milked an investor or two for some dough.
"WHO?" she asked.
"You know, Roger L. Simon!!!," I said with feigned excitement.
"Oh yeah! Okay. No. No clue."
"Really?"
"Is this someone I should know?"
"No, I suppose not."
UPDATE for the record: I was invited to join the circlejerk. Several times. It just never made sense to me on the business front nor individual level, I told Raj as much. So you can skip your "jealousy over not being invited" comments. Those comments will be altered to help you say what you really meant.

At least Roger has an Oscar nomination and Charles Johnson was a professional musician. But Jeff Goldstein and Security Mom? Who the fuck are those no talent jerks, and why would anybody pay them to write awful boring derivative unfunny suckass posts?

Tim -
I'll pay you to stop being a fucking idiot.
Posted by: Bill from INDC at November 17, 2005 6:48 PM
I agree with Bill. This is not a matter of credentials, this is a matter of talent. Alas, this is also why I have an issue with the PM/OSM as it seems to be the antithesis of a meritocracy.

protein wisdom: PROUD MEMBER OF THE ANTITHESIS OF A MERITOCRACY!
MAY HIS MEDIOCRITY FOREVER REIGN!
Incidentally, Tim? I touched your sister in her secret places. Lots.
Posted by: Jeff G at November 17, 2005 10:42 PM
Jeff, that was me, not Tim's sister.
Posted by: Aaron's cc: at November 18, 2005 9:12 AM
Ah Jeff, your mediocrity outshines much that is meritorious.
And I have no sister for you to touch. Don't even go there.
Posted by: MartiniPundit at November 18, 2005 9:20 AM
I better get back to my nachos and smokes and keep my bitter (because I wasn't invited to hang with Moxie) opinion to my celibate and lonesome self. HA! I love to smell farts! Especially those from Roger Simon!
Posted by: martin at November 18, 2005 6:43 PM
This is unbelievable! I might have to go out and burn a few cars.
Posted by: d-rod at November 18, 2005 6:59 PM
I guess I don't understand the vitriolic obsession with the OSM folks. If it fails, it fails, right? If you don't like it, don't read it.
I am indeed puzzled by OSM's business model, but equally puzzled at the mudslinging. What gives?
Posted by: SWLiP at November 18, 2005 10:30 PM
I think the naysayers were pretty polite about their doubts at first, but a few defensive remarks kind of got the ball rolling in this other direction.
Posted by: lauraw at November 19, 2005 10:08 AM
I just want to thank Moxie for helping me say what I really mean, during the season of giving. And I'd like to give any man's cornhole a good licking.

You're hereby invited to join Lion Media, instead. Egos smaller, benefits larger, and absolutely no fedoras to be found anywhere.
Posted by: Mr. Lion at November 19, 2005 1:13 PM
Jealous much?
Posted by: Jeff G at November 19, 2005 8:59 PM
In spite of Martin's indelicate offer, I think he deserves credit for his gracious acceptance of Moxie's proofreading skills.
Posted by: Joe at November 19, 2005 10:18 PM
I am more amused than offended at your repeated editing of my pithy remarks. You have fallen into the trap that so many of your generation (Y) have fallen into in that you think that insults trump reason. It is obvious that you want your site to attract the vagrants of society and thus shut out those of us who read Hayek and Burke and have something to share that would enlighten the rubes who read your musings. I am ashamed to think that Instapundit has listed you on his blog roll. Does he even read your tripe? I doubt it. Thank you for proving that conservatives can be just as inane and jejune and puerile as liberals. I demand that you return my comments to their original state or I will be forced to e-mail Glenn Reynolds and expose you for the insipid little clown that you are. This will most likely result in your being dropped from his blog-roll; the subsequent reduction in hits to your site will be dramatic and entirely justified. I am trusting that you will do the right thing.

OH SHIT.
Hurry, Moxie! Put it back!
Not the delinking! Noooo!
Posted by: lauraw at November 20, 2005 11:17 AM
Hmmmm. Did she help him with this one, or did she just let it go through because it would just be too much work to make him sound more ridiculous?
Posted by: Joe at November 20, 2005 7:13 PM
Joe, you nailed it. Martin did fine on his own -- for a change. I'm going to give him a 10 on the ridiculous comment scale. I'm soooooo terrified by his threats! Someone call the Internet police!
Other commenters are welcome to grade him as well.
Posted by: Moxie at November 21, 2005 12:21 AM
Look, if somebody calls you 'jejune and puerile,' the only thing you can do is laugh heartily in his face. After eating a large pastrami with onions.
When used as an insult, the words 'jejune and puerile' rival 'banana' in funniness.
Remember Charles Winchester on M*A*S*H?

Moxie, Moxie...
Clearly it's not nice to make fun of a retard. I'm going to tell the teacher on you, who will send you to the principal where you will probably have to bend over and... you know the routine.
Posted by: d-rod at November 21, 2005 9:20 AM
Clearly this is the post where you make demands of Moxie.
OK.
I DEMAND you post more cool photos or I shall be forced- against my will- to write a letter to another blogger and call you a poopy-pants.
HAH!
Take that.
I'll see you crawling yet, Missy.
